      COMMUNITY MISSIONS

*Tis*The*Season*To*Share*The*Love*Of*Our*Lord*

   *Toiletries*For*The*Elderly*

Missions use donations to buy the toiletries. We started out with 10 to 12 seniors, last year we had 40+ Seniors and this year we already have 42.

Earlier this year we asked the congregation to help donate the supplies needed, we had a great response. The congregation collected many useful items, such as:

10 boxes Kleenex           52 wash clothes
21 Toothpaste                52 Toothbrushes
99 razors                        6 shaving creams
9 hairbrushes                 32 combs
22 chap sticks                52 soaps
110 cough drops           150 band aids
11 toenail clippers          13 Shampoo/Conditioner
7 lotion                           5 Shower Gels

Many, many small hand sanitizers, shampoo, conditioner & lotions from Motel/Hotels

           *Winter*Coat*Drive*
Tis the season to break out the winter coats, and we dont mean to wear. That coat that has been sitting in the back of you closet for 5 years can be given to a child in need. This mission is to make sure that every man women and child are warm throughout the winter with a nice new or slightly used winter coat! All donations are welcome and will be greatly appreciated!

      *Christmas*Friends*

       *Thanksgiving*Baskets*

Every year around this time we come together as a community, we fill and distribute Thanksgiving Baskets for families in need. Last year we generated 150 baskets that went out to 259 individuals.Throughout the year our food pantry collects from several different donation boxes as well as other forms of donation and put together the food for these baskets.

Anyone and everyone are invited to join us at the Hillsdale Fire House starting November 21st Friday @6pm and again November 22 ,2014 Saturday @ 9am we will be putting the baskets together  .......Some refreshments will be provided. If you love to bake or cook, all finger foods are welcomed and appreciated!

In the begining of December any interested churches and persons meet for " Christmas Friends". Envelopes go in each Thanksgiving Basket to families with children. They are asked only the Child's 1st name, age and sex and what they would like for a Christmas gift ( under $25), they usually ask for sizes in case they ask for clothes. When they meet, some people will request how many children they or their organization would like to adopt or shop for. As it is an on going ecumenical ministry; there are funds available for people to shop for some of the children. You do not have to buy the items yourself unless you desire to. The gifts are purchased, wrapped, marked only with the child's 1st name & box number ( so the organizers know who they go to) returned to the church for distribution on a Saturday before  Christmas.
